NORTH KITSAP TRAILS: North Kitsap Trails Association will host two workshops to discuss trail networks. HOOKED ON FISHING: The Poulsbo Noon Lions Club and North Kitsap Future Farmers of America will host a Hooked on Fish Derby for children 11 and younger, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the horticulture pond behind Poulsbo Junior High. The event is free and bait is provided. Fishing poles are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so if children have poles, please bring them along. The pond will be stocked with about 500 rainbow trout. Prizes will be awarded for the largest fish in each age category. Parents are encouraged to help, but not fish. This is a fun-filled family activity that can help children develop a lifelong passion for fishing. Complimentary fish cleaning will be provided by NKFFA.

SEEKING DOCENTS: The Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport is currently recruiting for the Youth Docent Volunteer Program. The program offers young people work experience in a museum. Volunteers work five hours a day three days a week during the busy summer months as well as a few hours monthly during the winter months. Work begins as soon as school is out in the spring. Teens must be between the ages of 13-17 to participate. Youth Docents serve as educational aides and curatorial assistants. They will research, design and build an exhibit. SEEKING VOLUNTEERS: The Nature Conservancy is looking for volunteer stewards to help monitor Foulweather Bluff preserve, a nature preserve in northern Kitsap County near Hansville.
