Concerts on the Cove return to park

The Kingston Chamber of Commerce has finalized the schedule for the August summer concert series, Concerts on the Cove, with some great bands. Kingstonites can look forward to these free Saturday night concerts at Mike Wallace Park. Not only will you be able to enjoy top performers and bands, there will be tasty food available, and the Rotary beer and wine garden will be open. Concertgoers will be able to enjoy more of the performance, since the new covered stage will be in place.

These concerts are made possible by our local businesses. The Chamber of Commerce would especially like to acknowledge the generosity of the Kingston Thriftway.

Our concert schedule begins on July 30 with Harbor Days, when Paddle Kitsap comes to Kingston. Come down to Mike Wallace Park at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, to welcome the paddlers, sip a brew at the Rotary Beer and Wine Garden and enjoy the music of the Kingston High Jazz Ensemble. Julie Holt and the Crazy Family Band will be the scheduled concert on Friday, July 31.

Our first Saturday night concert will open with the local favorite, House of Cards, featuring Scotty Anderson. On Aug. 1, the Kingston Kiwanis are the sponsors of the concert and an extra: a special Strawberry Shortcake Festival.

The remaining concert schedule is:

August 8 – Locust Street Taxi, sponsored by Hill Moving;

August 15 – The Blues Counselors, sponsored by American Marine Bank;

August 22 – Elvis – Memories of a King, sponsored by Thriftway;

August 29 – The Buz Whiteley Big Band, sponsored by Kingston Rotary, with an opening act from the Kingston High School Jazz Ensemble.

Bring the entire family, plus your lawn chairs or blanket, for a night of music in the park. If you don’t have time to pack a picnic, Mike’s Four Star BBQ, The Hot Dog guy, and the Rorary Beer and Wine Garden will all open at 6 p.m. The concerts start at 7 p.m., rain or shine. Come and enjoy the good life on a Kingston Saturday night.
