The Bremerton School District has accepted a $13.26 million contract bid for the Mountain View Middle School Multi-Use Athletic Complex.
The school board March 30 awarded the contract to Neeley Construction of Puyallup, one of seven bids. It was determined that Neeley had the “lowest responsible bid,” with the highest offer nearly $16 million.
Neeley will be responsible for restoring the complex that is used year-round by district students. The complex currently features a gravel track among other amenities that have worn down over time. The baseball and football/soccer fields are also extremely patchy and can get muddy in rainy conditions.
New plans indicate that a new football field inside a new track would be built where the existing lower-level field and baseball field are. Additionally, the new multipurpose field would be laid out where the existing track is located. Plans also include additional parking and a new building for concessions and storage.
Construction is expected to start later this year, with the first phase reaching completion this fall. The project is expected to reach full completion by Aug. 18, 2024, contract documents say.
