BAINBRIDGE ISLAND — A 33-year-old convicted felon was charged with illegally owning a firearm and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver in Kitsap Superior Court this week, after Bainbridge Police raided his home in Suquamish on Friday.

Michael Anthony Jones was arrested at the residence on 5th Avenue and charged Monday with two felony counts. As of Tuesday morning, Jones remained in Kitsap County Jail on $100,000 bail.

According to a statement of probable cause filed in court Monday, Bainbridge Police seized more than three pounds of marijuana, a .45-caliber handgun and $900 cash while executing a search warrant at his residence. Methamphetamine, Ecstasy, drug paraphernalia, a scale and plastic baggies were also found in the search, the statement said.

Jones has prior convictions for assault, drug possession, forgery, robbery and taking a motor vehicle without permission.

Bainbridge Police Lt. Sue Shultz said Bainbridge officers were investigating a stolen vehicle and gained information that led to the search in Suquamish.

On Friday, Bainbridge Police were issued a warrant to search the house for narcotics and equipment used in dealing narcotics.

No one answered the door when officers arrived at the residence at 3:17 p.m. Friday, according to a police report. Police forced their way through the front door and encountered an “overwhelming” smell of marijuana, the report stated.
