A grease fire sent one person to the hospital for smoke inhalation late Friday night, according to Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue.
CKFR firefighters responded to the residential structure fire around 11:45 p.m. Sept. 11 in the 500 block of NE Conifer Drive in Bremerton. The 911 caller said grease on the kitchen stove caught the cabinets on fire.
All five residents evacuated the home and the fire appeared to be out when crews arrived. One person was transported to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters checked the kitchen for hot spots and used a thermal imaging camera in the attic area to look for fire and heat damage. Crews removed the hood duct above the stove and used large fans to ventilate smoke from the home until the air was clear.
Damage to the home and property is estimated around $650, according to CKFR. The residents were able to return home.
