Coroner rules Central Kitsap woman’s death a suicide

The suspicious death of a Central Kitsap woman found early Sunday morning on a trail in Seabeck has been ruled a suicide, according to Kitsap County Coroner Greg Sandstrom.

The woman, believed to be in her late 40s, died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head, Sandstrom said.

The woman’s body was found on an off-road vehicle trail near Holly Road by her husband shortly before 6 a.m. Aug. 16, according to Deputy Scott Wilson, KCSO spokesman.

The trail runs off of Rock Quarry Road NW, located south of NW Holly Road and west of Wildcat Lake. The land belongs to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

The husband reported that his wife left the house the night before to go off-road riding, according to KCSO. When he woke up the next morning to get ready for work, he realized his wife had not returned home. He searched the trail area and found her body.

The woman’s body was not found near the off-road vehicle, according to Wilson.
