POULSBO–City safety enhancements will be a topic of discussion during a meeting of the Poulsbo City Council tonight at 7 p.m.
The City of Poulsbo’s Director of Engineering Andrzej Kasiniak and Phil Struck will provide an update on developing plans for a non-motorized safety enhancements in the city and explore opportunities for grant funding.
At a Feb. 7 meeting Kasiniak was given the go-ahead to move forward with a plan to analyze crash data, trends and incidents and propose solutions to improve safety for both vehicles and pedestrians in the city. The safety enhancement plan also sought to apply for potential WSDOT grants in order to help fund the enhancement project.
Initially the Safety Enhancement Plan was estimated to cost $25,000 to be funded from the Speed Reduction Program and traffic impact fees.
Calls for safety enhancements came from the public after two pedestrians were struck by vehicles, less than a week apart last December, killing one.
