County Commission will vote on Senate appointment Wednesday

Kitsap County commissioners expect to appoint a state senator Wednesday. Rep. Christine Rolfes, D-Bainbridge, is the top choice of county precinct committee officers to succeed Phil Rockefeller, who resigned to accept appointment by Gov. Chris Gregoire to the Northwest Power and Conservation Council.

The Canoe Journey — a gathering of canoe families from indigenous nations in British Columbia and Washington — will stop at Port Gamble S’Klallam and Suquamish next week.

And three people are vying for a position on the North Kitsap School Board.
