Kitsap County’s Commissioners plan to re-evaluate their mission, vision and goals, within the next several weeks, to see if they still seem appropriate for the current sluggish economy.
“We’re functioning at minimal levels of service and striving to do everything (as well as before),” Charlotte Gariddo, the county commissioner representing South Kitsap said. “The priorities need to be called out more clearly.”
The commissioners hope to use their refreshed priority list to give a clearer direction to their financial planners, for how to pair down the budget for the upcoming year.
“Some of it will always ring true,” said Garrido, “it’s just a matter of how you apply it, especially in the down economy.”
Other parts of the mission and vision may need to change, noted Steve Gelder, the county commissioner representing north Kitsap.
“In any organization I’ve ever worked for, we’ve had to go back to the mission and vision and see if they still ring true,” he said.
