WATERMAN — June means more sun (usually), summer vacation and, for folks in Waterman — the annual Root Beer Float Festival.

The event, organized and conducted by the Associated Clubs of Waterman, is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, at Waterman Community Center, 5785 Hillcrest Road E. in Port Orchard.

As always, the root beer floats are scooped up free of charge, said Janet Hane of the organization. Hane said resale items will be on hand at the club. All donations will go toward maintenance of the 105-year-old building.
