Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue received a call at 9:02 a.m. this morning for a garage fire in the 3000 block of Viewcrest Drive NE.
Units from Navy Region Northwest and the Bremerton Fire Department were also dispatched. Crews from the Bremerton Fire Department were first on scene and confirmed it was a carport on fire and spreading to the garage. The call was upgraded to a second alarm.
The fire was quickly extinguished and was officially out at 9:22 a.m.
A neighbor called 911 after seeing the fire and reported it appeared to have started in a truck parked under the carport. The homeowners were not home at the time. An individual working on a retaining wall down the street broke through a door and rescued the family’s chocolate lab.
There is smoke and fire damage to the truck, carport and front half of the garage. It did not extend into the main portion of the home.
Firefighters are conducting overhaul and the Kitsap County Fire Marshal is on scene to determine the cause.
