Cyber safety talk Sept. 10 at NKHS

POULSBO — Nationally recognized speaker Charles Leitch will discuss cyber safety and social media risks in the North Kitsap Auditorium Sept. 10.

The presentation, sponsored by Poulsbo Rotary, is scheduled for 6:30-8 p.m. It is open to the public.

Leitch will review the risks of digital technology and social media, and strategies on how to educate themselves on technology supervision. He will also discuss how to approach children when issues arise.

Prior to the community presentation, Leitch will present at both Kingston and North Kitsap high schools.

Leitch provides guidance and training nationally on bullying prevention and response, technology and data protection, and internet safety and social media, including policy and best practices, according to information found on the North Kitsap School District website. He was a member of Attorney General Rob McKenna’s Youth Internet Safety Task Force, serves on the advisory boards of www.Ikeepsafe.org, and Generation Safe in Washington D.C., and is on the faculty of the Public Risk Management Association national institute. Leitch has been an invited keynote speaker for the Department of Education/Supreme Court of the Territory of Guam, the National Cyber-safety and Girl Bullying Conferences, and schools throughout the United States.
