Halloween was a wet one this year, but it didn’t dampen people’s spirits.

The sidewalks of downtown Poulsbo were crowded with children and parents seeking to get spooked, get treats, and get a little shelter from the Halloween rain Wednesday.

Parents used their cars to drop their princesses, superheroes, ghouls and goblins off for trick-or-treating in North Kitsap neighborhoods.

And the zombies you saw in Kingston weren’t looking for brains Oct. 27, they were looking for a good beat.

More than 40 people gathered at noon at Cup and Muffin to recreate Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance. This is the second year Kingston has participated in Thrill the World, a worldwide simultaneous dance that is constantly breaking its own Guinness World Record.

Despite the rain, students from the North Kitsap Options program and adults who just wanted to dance entertained with their creepy zombie moves.

Kristen Chandler and her friend, Kristina Hanson, had the idea to join Thrill the World a few years ago.

“We’ve got a great community here, a lot of really great dead people that come out of the ground,” Chandler said.

Hanson, a Zumba instructor, taught the dance to participants at Poulsbo Athletic Club, and Zero Gravity also provided Thriller classes. This year’s Kingston Thrill the World raised $100 in donations for the Sarcoma Foundation.

Chandler said she wanted to thank Zero Gravity, Poulsbo Athletic Club, Cup and Muffin, and the Richens family for their support.
