Deputies to monitor Silverdale Waterfront Park last day of school

In recent years, it has become customary for young people to congregate at Silverdale Waterfront Park following class dismissal on the last day of school. A small number of those who went to the park engaged in disruptive behavior to include fighting, igniting fireworks, playing music too loudly, littering, disruption of local businesses and operating motor vehicles unsafely, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

KCSO and the Central Kitsap School District (CKSD) remind people that this gathering is not a CKSD-sponsored event and the people who choose to gather at Silverdale Waterfront Park are reminded to act responsibly.

Sheriff’s deputies will be present at the park the last day of school, Friday, June 20, to monitor any gathering. They will enforce state law and county ordinances regarding activities or behavior.
