Feigley Road Partners LLC obtained permits and started construction on 185 lots covering 51.45 acres at the intersection of Old Feigley Road and Lone Bear Drive, at the height of the 1990s housing boom.

But the housing market changed, and so did their plans.

“It was approved, the permits were issued and the houses were partially constructed,” said Tom Barghausen, the president of Feigley Road Partners LLC.

Ted Hunter, the city of Port Orchard’s hearing examiner, conducted a hearing to amend the site on Feb. 3 and will issue his decision within 10 business days.

Barghausen would like to cut 18 of the lots, eliminate private alleys, consolidate several small parks into one large park, increase lot sizes, change the main access point and increase wetland buffers.

“The market’s changing, and people don’t like the small lots,” said Barghausen. “We want to make the lots larger and do some other miscellaneous changes to the internal part of the plan because we hope that will make this successful. We see that happening to a lot of projects these days.”
