A Port Orchard defense attorney, who had his client sign a court document denying that he had a romantic interest in his client’s wife, will face a perjury charge.

Dennis X. Goss, 59, was charged with first-degree perjury as an accomplice Jan. 21 in Kitsap County District Court.

Court documents stated the attorney pursued Angela V. Williams, the wife of Tyler F. Williams, who was charged with leading organized crime, promoting prostitution, cocaine dealing and witness tampering. Tyler Williams, 31, has been in the Kitsap County Jail since May 1 and recently pleaded guilty. He will be sentenced in February.

Williams fired Goss on Nov. 12 and hired Bryan Hershman as his attorney.

Court papers stated investigators interviewed Tyler Williams on Jan. 9. He told investigators he signed an “affidavit” on June 6 and Goss told him meeting with Angela Willams “takes his mind off of his neck cancer.” Tyler Willams said Goss never denied hitting on his wife, but apologized later.

He said he signed the untruthful declaration because Goss told Williams he would be stuck with a “roller” public defender. Williams told investigators that Goss told him that he and Angela Williams, 28, devised a plan to create a rumor that Goss and Williams’ wife was having an affair so police would listen in on phone conversations.

Angela Williams stated in her declaration, allegations against Goss “are untrue” and that “conversations in question are not true statements and were drawn out and taken out of context.” She also stated that Goss never made any “overt sexual passes at her.”

In Tyler Williams’ declaration, he declared the allegations about Goss were false and that his wife made-up allegations in an attempt to make Williams made and in retaliation for his infidelity.

Both declarations were prepared by Goss.

In Goss’ declaration, the attorney denied the allegations. He stated there was “no conflict of interest or any sexual relations or contract between him and his client’s wife.”

During a Dec. 30 interview, Angela Williams told detectives the declaration she signed was “untruthful,” according to court documents.

Charging papers also included text messages between Goss and Angela Williams from May 2-12. In the text messages, Goss invited Angela Williams to dinner and dancing, including 13 Coins in Seattle. On May 11, between 1 and 3:11 a.m there were 53 text message exchanged between Goss and Angela Williams — 33 from Goss.

In a May 11 text message sent to Angela Williams’ phone at 9:50 a.m., Goss texted “stay married to Tyler and let me make LOVE to you!!!”

According to court documents, investigators reviewed hours of phone calls — especially between May 18 and June 2 — between Williams and his wife, and discovered Goss was making “inappropriate comments and sending inappropriate text messages” to Angela Williams. In a May 29 phone call, William’s wife said she “feels uncomfortable” dealing with Goss.

During phone calls between May 13-17, Angela Williams tells Williams that she had meet Goss multiple times at restaurants or bars to discuss the case and during the meeting Goss flirted with her. She said Goss continued the flirting between phone calls and late night text messages, stated court records.

Goss, a graduate of the Evergreen State University, started his law office in 2003. He received his law degree in 1982 from the University of Puget Sound School of Law.

The following charges were filed in Kitsap County District Court recently:

Jan. 28: Joshua Thomas Comerford, 19, Olalla, possession of heroin; Tanya Allene Chapman, 39, Port Orchard, possession of heroin.

Jan. 27: Nickolas Reed Anthony, 25, transient, failure to register as a sex offender (felony).

Jan. 24: Christopher W. Trousdale, 24, Port Orchard, second-degree taking a motor vehicle without permission; Ashley Marie Rowland, 24, Port Orchard, third-degree theft; Maranda Nicole Dean, 23, Lakebay, third-degree theft; Danyel Caroline Childs, 38, Port Orchard, driving under the influence and second-degree driving while license suspended or revoke.

Jan. 22: Katherine J. Bowman, 31, Port Orchard, third-degree assault; Brian Scott Uhlman, 29, Port Orchard, possession of a stolen vehicle.
