Power was out in parts of Kingston Monday morning, after a downed power line caused a brush fire at Miller Bay and West Kingston roads.
PSE has shut down several lines to allow firefighters to safely extinguish the brush fire caused by the downed line, according to North Kitsap Fire & Rescue’s Facebook page.
What caused the power line to go down could not be confirmed early Monday. But Robyn Chastain, director of communications for the North Kitsap School District, said at 9:15 a.m., “The power is currently out at Kingston High School, Kingston Middle School, Gordon Elementary, Spectrum, and Transportation Services due to a car crash in the area. Schools are running as scheduled and we anticipate power being back on by 9:30 a.m.”
Students at Kingston High School were being held in their first-period classes until power could be restored, the school reported.
David Wolfle Elementary School didn’t lose power. Kingston Middle School could not be contacted.
