Everyone out there who doesn’t need exercise and a good time please raise your hands… No one? Well then there really isn’t much of an excuse to miss out on an event where you can get both and raise some money for a worthy cause as well.
The 11th annual Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis Walkathon will be stepping into rural Poulsbo this Saturday, bringing with it new hope for a cure and support for two local kids that battle the genetic disease on a daily basis.
While Brianna Oas and Marshal Jones seem to be a lot like every other 14-year-old in North Kitsap, both have been stricken with the heavy burden that CF provides. Thanks to generous donations and neighbors who care, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made leaps and bounds in terms of research and treatment but a cure is still proving elusive.
Grass roots events like our local walkathon fund-raiser are helping thousands of adults and kids like Oas and Jones make it through their struggles and giving everyone hope for a brighter future. Donations are key to success.
And whether you can spare $10 or $100, is there really a worthier cause than saving kids’ lives? Not that we can think of off hand.
Folks supporting the CF Walkathon are seeking donations right now in North Kitsap and beyond and if you can’t afford to give, it’s not too late to get involved.
Registration forms for the May 10 event, which gets walking at about 10 a.m., are available at the North Kitsap Herald. So stop by if you can and show two local kids and thousands of others that you support their hope for a better tomorrow.
