The CK Reporter is joining its sister paper, the Bremerton Patriot, in the Editor’s Challenge to bring in donations for the Stevenson quintuplets, their parents Mike and Courtnee and sister Lilli.
The family, who lives in East Bremerton with Courtnee’s dad, has been trying unsuccessfully to move into a larger home.
Last year’s torrential rains left their home’s foundation in near shambles, so they had to regroup and now a shell of their dream home sits empty on a hillside in Keyport.
Volunteers helped get the house to this point and Mike has dedicated himself to doing all of the electrical work himself while working full-time to support his family. Courtnee’s gone back to teaching aerobics classes three times a week and has her own photography business.
The family, along with friends and volunteers, recently hosted a few fund-raisers, but haven’t netted much.
Since the Bremerton Patriot began the Editor’s Challenge last Saturday, donations are at $380 as of Thursday. Readers of the CK Reporter are being challenged to help raise money for this family in need.
Whether you can donate $1 or $100, every little bit helps. Each Saturday, the CK Reporter will print the combined total of donations from both papers’ readers. Donors from the CK area will be printed although donors can request to remain anonymous.
Donations can be sent to Editor’s Challenge, Central Kitsap Reporter, 9989 Silverdale Way, Suite 109, Silverdale, WA 98383 or dropped off at the front desk of the CK Reporter office.
Checks should be made out to “Editor’s Challenge.” An account is being set up at Westsound Bank.
All proceeds will go directly to the family.
