Elizabeth Anne Clark of Bainbridge Island passed away April 7, 2011 after a determined three-year battle with cancer.
Betty Anne was born in Erie, Pa., on the Fourth of July 1931 to Emil and Edna Johnson. She graduated with a BA in Spanish from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, in 1954. Betty Anne was an avid cyclist, pilot, rancher, and traveler. She was involved, as a member and officer, in PEO chapters in Bainbridge and Salida, Colo. The Christian Women’s Club and service as a Vacation Bible School teacher and senior caregiver added to a very full and compassionate life.
Betty Anne is survived by her husband, Robert Clark, of Bainbridge Island. Bob and Betty were married March 23, 1998. They enjoyed traveling, caring for their lovely home and coffee dates. Their weekly routine included organizing magazines at the library and competitive games of bridge with dear friends at Bainbridge and Poulsbo Senior Centers. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Kitsap.
Betty Anne is survived by her husband, Bob; children, Charles Harmon (Leslie) of San Jose, Calif., Jane Burton (Shane) of Grand Junction, Colo., James Harmon (Mary) of Bainbridge, and Robert Harmon (Diana) of Denver, Colo.; stepchildren, Jeff Clark (Bonnie) of Bainbridge, and James (Pam) of Bainbridge; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Jeannie Meinhart, of Kissimmee, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.
Betty Anne was preceded in death by her first husband and beloved father of their four children, James M. Harmon; her sisters, Elaine Elliott and Donna Pfaender; and brother, Charles Johnson.
Betty Anne was a beautiful woman. Her life and love for others continues in joy with the Savior and the many people whose lives she touched on her journey with us. A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, Kingston, on April 11, at 1 p.m. A graveside ceremony in Salida, Colo. will follow.
