POULSBO — A slow-burning fire that may have been smoldering for days was being tended to by multiple fire departments the afternoon of Aug. 7.
Crews from Bainbridge Island Fire, North Kitsap Fire & Rescue, and the Poulsbo Fire Department were fighting a 100-foot by 200-foot fire on Foxglove Lane.
North Kitsap Fire was dispatched at about 12:30 p.m., according to NKF&R spokeswoman Michele Laboda. When crews arrived, the fire was about 100 feet from the road.
The fire had not visibly grown since crews arrived, Laboda said. No injuries were reported. No homes or other structures were threatened at the time.
Laboda said neighbors reported smelling smoke for about five days, but did not know where the smell was coming from.
