Emergency shelter open Jan. 11-13

Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management will keep the county’s Severe Weather Shelter open through the weekend because of continued freezing weather conditions.

POULSBO — Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management will keep the county’s Severe Weather Shelter open through the weekend because of continued freezing weather conditions.

The shelter will open at 6 p.m. Jan. 11, 12 and 13. Hours of operation will be from 6 p.m. until 7 a.m. Guests will not be able to check into the shelter after 9 p.m.

The shelter is located at Bremerton Food Line, 1600 12th St., Bremerton. Vouchers for transportation on Kitsap Transit to and from the shelter are available at North Kitsap Fishline, 18916 3rd Ave., Poulsbo. Call (360) 779-5190.

The shelter will serve all residents of the area who require safe overnight refuge where none is available. Further activations will be weather dependent.  For more information, call 211 or call Kitsap Community Resources, (360) 478-2301.

The National Weather Service forecasts cold temperatures all weekend.

— Jan. 13, mostly sunny with a high near 35. Calm wind. In the evening, partly cloudy with a low around 26. Calm wind.
