Poulsbo Mayor Kathryn Quade gained about a percentage point on challenger Becky Erickson during Wednesday’s ballot count, but Erickson maintained a healthy lead over the incumbent.

Councilwoman Kim Crowder’s tiny five-vote lead over challenger Jim Henry has disappeared, however, with Henry pulling ahead by 12 votes, according to tallies released Wednesday by the Kitsap County Auditor’s Office.

Exactly 2,068 votes were counted in the Poulsbo mayoral election as of Wednesday. About 5,000 ballots were mailed out. Countywide about 17,000 ballots are left to count. Election officials expect about 50 percent turnout.

Erickson has 1,106 votes, or 53.48 percent, compared to Quade’s 948 votes, or 45.84 percent.

Henry has 986 votes, or 50.13 percent, compared to Crowder’s 974 votes, or 49.52 percent.

The office reported the contested council race had seven write-in votes.

The Auditor’s office will update the count again by 5 p.m. Thursday.
