As part of a series profiling “daycation” getaways easily found by ferry, King-5’s “Evening Magazine” will film in Poulsbo today.
The “Just a ferry ride away” series has profiled Bainbridge Island, with plans to showcase Orcas Island and other hop-skip-and-a-jump destinations that only cost as much as passage on the ferries.
“It’s a just a great way to show people what’s in their own backyard,” said Eric Riddle, segment producer for the Seattle-based television station.
Evening Magazine reporter Michael King will be in town today, taking in the sights with a camera operator.
One stop will be the Marina Market.
Owner Andrea Rowe said King will film the licorice shrine she has built in honor of her favorite sweet.
Rowe said the series, especially focusing on Poulsbo, will give the city’s tourism-dependent businesses a shot in the arm.
“Which is tremendous,” Rowe said.
The segement will air on the program Aug. 20 or 27, Riddle said.
