Seattle Sounders legend Steve Zakuani will be the guest speaker at a Troy and Baden Biddle Foundation event Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Bainbridge High School Theater.

His talk is called “Strength Within: Overcoming Challenges in Youth Sports.” Zakuani is also a sportscaster, philanthropist and mental health advocate.

An on-field accident resulted in multiple fractures to his leg and threatened to end his career. Zakuani had already overcome London’s roughest neighborhoods and recovered as a teen after a motorcycle accident that left doctors without hope for his future in soccer. A mentor gave him focus, and in his talk he shares how to face obstacles with a positive mindset, and how to be a positive role model for others who face their own adversities.
