SEATTLE — In the near future, Seattle ferry riders can look forward to a new terminal complete with more efficient operations, viewpoints and amenities. Washington State Ferries is continuing design and planning for the Seattle Multimodal Terminal at Colman Dock Project to replace aging and seismically vulnerable portions of Colman Dock. The public can view the latest designs now and learn about upcoming construction at project outreach events and online.

A Bremerton meeting will be April 26 (see below.)

Colman Dock plays a critical role as a connection point for ferry riders, transit, pedestrians, commercial vehicles and bicycles. It also is WSF’s largest ferry terminal, serving more than 9 million ferry customers and 500,000 King County Water Taxi riders in 2015.

“Colman Dock is an important transportation hub on the Seattle waterfront,” said WSF Terminal Engineering Director Nicole McIntosh. “We want to hear from our customers and project neighbors as we finalize the design for the project and start planning for construction.”

Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2017 and continue for five years. The terminal will remain operational throughout construction.

WSF will share the latest information about the upcoming construction in an online open house, which runs through April 29. Project staff will provide a project update and answer questions at the following outreach events:

Tuesday, April 19: Onboard the 4:40 p.m. sailing from Seattle to Bainbridge Island, and inside the Bainbridge terminal from approximately 5:30 – 7:50 p.m.

Wednesday, April 20: Inside the main terminal building at Colman Dock from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m., and under the tent at King County’s Water Taxi facility from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, April 26: Onboard the 4:20 p.m. sailing from Seattle to Bremerton, and inside the Bremerton terminal from approximately 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
