Central Valley — There were no injuries in a house fire that displaced a family of seven June 1 in the 7000 block of Fidalgo Court NW.

Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue was dispatched at about 10:55 a.m. to the fire and, upon arriving, firefighters saw heavy fire in the garage, extending to the second floor and the attic.

It took about 90 minutes to fully extinguish the fire.

Nine people — two parents, five children and two visiting grandparents — were staying in the house, which is now heavily damaged and uninhabitable. The Red Cross was called to assist the family.

At the time of the fire, the grandmother, mother and four of the children were in the house. They smelled smoke and, after searching the rooms, the mother opened the door into the garage and saw flames, CKFR reported.

The family immediately evacuated and called 911.

The Bremerton Fire Department also went to the scene. The Kitsap County Fire Marshal was investigating the cause; the fire is not considered suspicious.
