With the opening of the new passenger-only ferry terminal on the horizon, Kitsap Transit announced they’ll be suspending fast-ferry services Monday, Aug. 5 through Saturday, Aug. 10 while construction crews work on the pier.
Specifically, crews will move a gangway from its current location at Pier 52 and connect it to a new passenger-only ferry terminal complex at Pier 50. The new, covered facility, located on the south side of Colman Dock, will have room for roughly 500 passengers and is part of a larger renovation project.
The facility will connect downtown Seattle with West Seattle, Vashon and the Kitsap Peninsula. A pedestrian bridge will connect the Washington State Ferries main terminal and the passenger-only ferry terminal.
Due to the dock closure, both Kitsap Fast Ferries and King County Water Taxi will not operate during the week of Aug. 5. These services are expected to resume Monday, Aug. 12, pending final system testings. Fast Ferry and Water Taxi riders have been boarding from the temporary location at Pier 52 since August of 2017.
During service disruption, customers who typically ride the Bremerton Fast Ferry can ride WSF’s Bremerton to Seattle service. Those who ride the Kingston Fast Ferry can ride WSF’s Bainbridge to Seattle service. Kitsap Fast Ferries pass holders should see a Kitsap Transit marine services ambassador inside the main WSF terminal at Colman Dock to obtain a WSF ticket.
Customers who typically ride Kitsap Transit routes 302 or 307 to the Kingston Ferry Terminal will need to explore bus routes serving the Bainbridge Terminal. Here are some options for commuters:
- George’s Corner, 27618 Hansville Road NE, Kingston: route 91
- North Viking, 21992 Viking Way NW, Poulsbo: route 390
- Gateway Fellowship, 18901 8th Avenue NE, Poulsbo: route 333, 338 express
- Clearwater Casino, SR 305 & Suquamish Way (buses stop along SR 305 in front of casino): route 91, 333, 338 express, 390
Customers can call 844-475-7433 before Aug. 5 to understand how the Seattle dock closure will affect their bus trips.
