Peninsula Bible Fellowship will welcome Tom Kohl, author of “Losing Megan: Finding Hope, Comfort and Forgiveness in the Midst of Murder,” to speak about his journey of faith and forgiveness during two worship services later this month.

Since his daughter’s death in 2006 – and his meeting with her killer, in which Kohl offered his forgiveness – Tom has spoken in several prisons across the country. He shares his message about how his faith helped him to forgive, and how incarcerated murderers and other prisoners also can experience forgiveness.

As a Circuit Court Judge for Washington County, Oregon, Kohl often counsels victims who appear in his courtroom, particularly other parents who have lost their children. His work with Washington County’s Drug Court gives him the opportunity to understand some of the issues Megan faced as a drug user, and to help others who are battling addictions.

In addition, he has spoken in Indonesia and Zimbabwe, and he recently returned from a visit to Rwanda to mark the 20th anniversary of the genocide. During his visit, Kohl spoke in prisons and reconciliation villages, where Hutus and Tutsis now live together.
