Work ended early so vehicle traffic returned to the Washington State Ferries between Bainbridge Island and Seattle at 6:40 p.m. Sept. 12.
The ferries had been closed to vehicle traffic since Sept. 6 due to replacement of the walkways used by passengers, a state Department of Transportation news release says.
One-boat service continues Sept. 12, but the route will return to two-boat service Sept. 13.
The ferry also again is accepting motorcycles and bicycles.
Bridge spans were finished ahead of schedule, and construction equipment was removed. The new walkway is scheduled to open in late fall.
The second boat at BI was being used on the Edmonds-Kingston route to help as vehicles went there instead of BI.
