Fight at Kingston High leads to arrest

A Kingston High student was arrested last week after he and two others allegedly started a fight with another boy, according to Kitsap County Sheriff’s reports. The arrested suspect, 16, along with two 15-year-old boys, were seen by witnesses and security cameras in the school hitting and punching a fourth student, who received medical attention after showing signs of a possible head injury.

The victim, 17, was taken from the scene by a North Kitsap Fire & Rescue medical unit.

The victim said he arrived at school just before 8 a.m. Feb. 2 and was talking with other students when one of the suspects approached him from behind and “without warning, punched him in the face.”

According to the report, both 15-year-old suspects can be seen on camera hitting the victim from behind; the 16-year-old suspect joined later, after a teacher attempted to break up the fight. That suspect told police he was “caught up in the moment.”

The teacher was able to quell the situation with the help of another student, who pulled the arrested suspect off the victim.

Several student witnesses corroborated the report, according to authorities.

The three suspects were sent to the main office, then suspended from school before deputies arrived. One was arrested at his home the next day; contact with the other two is pending, the report states. The victim became sick to his stomach and had blood coming from an eye. He was taken for treatment, and a family member later confirmed to police he didn’t sustain a head injury.

It was also reported the victim and one of the suspects had fought the week before, until school security broke them up.
