POULSBO — Viking Fest, the 44th annual celebration of Poulsbo’s Norwegian cultural ties, continues Sunday. Some of the highlights: A free film series at the Sons of Norway Lodge, the annual lutefisk and oyster eating contests, and the Cupcake Krigen, or Cupcake War.
Here’s the schedule.
7 a.m. to 1 p.m.: 40th annual Poulsbo Noon Lions’ Pancake Breakfast at North Kitsap High School. All funds benefit the Lions’ North Kitsap High School Scholarship Fund.
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Food and craft booths open on Anderson Parkway. Carnival opens at King Olav Parking Lot until 5:30 p.m. Entertainment at Kvelstad Pavilion in Muriel Iverson Williams Waterfront Park. Viking Village open in Muriel Iverson Williams Waterfront Park.
11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Kupcake Krigen (Cupcake War) in Muriel Iverson Williams Waterfront Park,
Noon to 4 p.m.: Sons of Norway Lodge video presentations (open to the public, free admission, upstairs at the Lodge):
Noon-12:30 p.m.: “Finding Thea” (Thea was the inspiration for Tugboat Annie).
12:30-1 p.m. “The Birkebeiners” (rescuers of the infant King of Norway).
1-3 p.m.: “The Viking” (travel the globe with the Vikings).
3-4 p.m.: “Arctic Passage” (Roald Amundsen’s search for the Northwest Passage).

10 a.m.: Poulsbo Elementary School Marimba Group.
10:30-11:15 a.m.: Scoil Rince Slieveloughane (Hillside Lake Irish Dancers).
11:30 a.m. to noon: Samara Dancers.
Noon to 1:45 p.m.: PLANTED Band.
2 p.m.: Poulsbo Middle School Cheer Squad.
2:30 p.m.: Annual Lutefisk Eating Contest (sign up at Information Booth before noon on Sunday, $10 entry fee, limited to 12 contestants 18 years and older) Sponsored by New Day Fisheries of Port Townsend, and Peninsula Credit Union of Poulsbo.
3:15 p.m.: Oyster Eating Contest (sign up at The Loft Restaurant). Sponsored by The Loft Restaurant, Poulsbo.
4 p.m.: Booths and entertainment close.
6 p.m.: Carnival closes.
Parking: Places to park in downtown Poulsbo are limited. Vehicles with disability placards can park at the Edward Jones Investment Offices, 19032 Jensen Way NE or across the street in front of the old city hall.
Public parking is available in the Port of Poulsbo’s parking lot on Jensen Way, and in the new City Hall on Moe Street. You can park at all three Poulsbo public school campuses and ride the shuttle bus to downtown ($2 roundtrip charge for those 5 and older). You can park at the Gateway Fellowship Church or First Lutheran Church lots for a suggested $5 donation.
