KINGSTON — A Kingston woman is safe Monday afternoon after being stranded on a cliff off Washington Boulevard NE.
The woman was hiking with four Kingston teenagers on private property north of the Washington State Ferries terminal after 2 p.m., said North Kitsap Fire & Rescue spokeswoman Michele Laboda. The trail was steeper than the group expected and the woman became concerned she could not reach the top of the cliff on her own, Laboda said. One of the party called 9-1-1.
The teenagers were able to clamber up the cliff. Firefighters used ropes and a harness to guide the woman about 30 feet to the top of the cliff, which was estimated at about 100 feet tall.
“She just needed a little help,” Laboda said.
More details will be posted as they become available.
