Food bank must vacate space

The Kingston Food Bank, which has occupied the same building for about 40 years, must vacate as soon as possible, according to owner Barb Fulton.

KINGSTON — The Kingston Food Bank, which has occupied the same building for about 40 years, must vacate as soon as possible, according to Barb Fulton. The county gave Fulton, the Food Bank’s owner, notice that she must vacate. Fulton said she believes it has to do with building code violations.

Fulton is now looking for another space for the food bank, which served about 50 people, twice per week, every week last year. About 100 families are served each month, receiving a basket of food.

Ideally, Fulton would like about 800 sqare feet for the food bank, but she can work with less, she said.

Because the food bank is nonprofit, Fulton said she cannot afford to pay rent.

The food bank, currently located at 26096 W 1st St., is open Wednesdays and Fridays, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; next to the Oak Table Cafe and Firehouse Theater.

Fulton said she had received notice to vacate, but expected more time to find another location. She originally thought the deadline to move out was March.
