A former Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office deputy was charged with rape and harassment on May 20 in Kitsap County District Court.

Brian McEvoy, 45, of Port Orchard, was charged with second-degree rape and felony harassment in connection with an April 9 incident involving his wife and children.

McEvoy was arrested May 19 by U.S. marshals in Gig Harbor after he crashed his a car while fleeing. He is being held in the Kitsap County Jail and bail was set at $2 million.

KCSO reported McEvoy was hired in 1999 and was fired in 2009 after he was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving in King County. He refused to take a breath test and his driver’s license was suspended for one year. He was never convicted of the charge.

According to charging papers, McEvoy’s wife told investigators that McEvoy had threatened and assaulted her after he arrived home from a pre-planned event with friends. His wife said McEvoy pulled her hair and hit her several times in the face after she returned home from a pre-planned event. She tried to leave the house, but McEvoy disabled her vehicle and jumped on the hood of the car, and struck the windshield several times. He allegedly threaten to kill her and the children if she attempted to leave or call police.

During an April 10 interview, deputies reported that they noticed a lump on the woman’s head and her left eye and a clump of hair missing from her forehead. She told investigators that McEvoy started drinking heavily after his termination from the sheriff’s office and it strained the marriage, according to court documents.

Rape and harassment charges came after she told investigators further details about the incident.

McEvoy was arrested in April 10 for fourth-degree assault and taken to county jail. After he was bailed out of jail, McEvoy’s attorney told investigators he traveled to Vermont to visit his family. He allegedly called his wife at work and threatened her. A felony arrest warrant was issued for McEvoy on April 18, court documents stated.
