For the fourth year in a row, select Central Kitsap School District schools have earned Washington Achievement Awards. These awards represent the state’s highest honor for schools. Winners are selected based on statewide assessment data for the three previous years.
Ridgetop Junior High, Central Kitsap High School and Klahowya Secondary School received High Progress awards for progress in student performance in reading and math. These schools represent the top 10 percent of all schools in the state.
Central Kitsap Junior High received a Special Recognition award for student performance in math. Schools quality for this recognition if they are in the top 5 percent based on median growth percentiles.
“These awards are important because they’re such a good indicator of how schools are performing,” stated David McVicker, interim superintendent in a CKSD press release. “I’m really proud of the students and staff at these schools. Their success shows that we’re setting high expectations—and that our students are meeting them.”
