The Friends will hold their biggest book sale of the year at the Farmers Market 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 18. There will be a wide variety of books available. Here is a long list of library programs for July.
Kingston Book Group: 10 a.m. July 1. Discussion will be about “Moloka’i” by Alan Brennert.
Point Defiance Zoo presents ‘Heroes’: 10:30 a.m. July 1. Learn about some wildlife heroes and how they use their super skills to win the race for survival. Preschool Storytime: 10:30 a.m. July 6 and 20. Early Literacy fun with books, songs and rhymes for your preschooler.

Composting with John Barutt: 10-11:30 a.m. July 8. Join master composter John Barutt for a presentation on composting techniques followed by a chance to ask all your “rot-related” questions. Whether you are new to composting or improving an established system, John will put you on the path to soil success.
Dr. Dave’s Reptile Safaris: 10:30 a.m. July 8. Take a walk on the wild side with Dr. Dave and experience an up-close encounter with reptiles.
Lego @ the Library: 2 p.m. July 8. Join other Lego fans to build fantastic creations. Materials are provided.
Brazillian Dance Party with Eduardo Mendoca: 10:30 a.m. July 13. A native of Salvador, Bahia, and Brazil. Eduardo has played, composed and directed various genres of Brazilian popular music in the US, Canada, Asia and Brazil. He was featured in the PBS American Masters documentary, “Paul Simon: Born at the Right Time.” This event will take place at Mike Wallace Park, adjacent to the Kingston Ferry Terminal.

Pacific Science Center Presents Codebreakers: 10:30 a.m. July 29. Codes and ciphers are based on mathematical reasoning. Discover the math in real world codes and ciphers by exploring secret messages. Break historical codes, decipher mysteries and create your own form of communication based on logic and patterns. African Beats Drum Workshop: 10:30 a.m. July 14. Two teaching artists from Gansango Music & Dance demonstrate the wide variety of drums found across Africa, and show the young audience members how to play basic rhythms using shakers, bells, drums and clapping.
