A fund has been established to help the families of two Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies wounded in the Jan. 23 shooting at the Port Orchard Walmart.

Deputy Andrew Paul Ejde of North Kitsap and Deputy John Roy Stacy of South Kitsap suffered gunshot wounds while investigating a suspicious person report. Both were discharged from Tacoma General Hospital last week and are recovering at home.

The Kitsap County Deputy Sheriff’s Guild has established a Wounded Officer Fund in response to an outpouring of community support, according to a statement from the Sheriff’s Office.

“Many gestures of concern and appreciation have arrived, for which Sheriff Steve Boyer, the injured deputies and the entire agency is very grateful,” the statement said.

Donations can be made at any Sheriff’s Office location or Key Bank branch, or can be mailed to Kitsap County Deputy Sheriff’s Guild, P.O. Box 1545, Silverdale, WA 98383. Checks should be made payable to KCDSG Donation Account.
