The moment you’ve been waiting for is finally here: The campaign to finish off the funding of the new community center at the Village Green is kicking into high gear.
At 3 p.m., Jan. 26, come to the picnic pavilion at the Village Green. You’ll enjoy live music and an opportunity to participate in a big photo shoot. We’ll mock-up the new building’s footprint with our own feet — the more participants, the merrier.
If it’s raining, you’ll have a chance to get a “I Support the Village Green in Kingston, WA” umbrella.
We’ll parade down the street to the existing building for soup and beverages and a demonstration of the activities planned at the new building. We’re planning a Kinect/Wii demonstration, in which the kids can show the seniors how the systems work; a building demonstration, where the kids can actually see how a building is constructed; and an origami-folding lesson, in which all ages can learn to make a basic envelope that will contain a nice surprise everyone will find useful.
Just in time for all of this, the Village Green Foundation has concluded an architectural services contract with Miles Yanick & Company, the architect who’s done the concept and schematic design. So this could be the most opportune time to add your thoughts to the building design.
