From KITSAP NEWS Reports
Regional fire authority planning committee members voted unanimously to approve West Sound Fire & Rescue as the name of the future fire authority at its meeting on Tuesday.
The committee, made up of three elected officials from each fire agency and Bremerton City Council, meets regularly to determine the feasibility of Bremerton Fire Department, Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue and South Kitsap Fire & Rescue becoming one organization that will be called West Sound Fire & Rescue.
The planning committee has met four times so far and accomplished a lot of work in determining whether combining the three fire departments is in the best interest of the districts they currently serve. If the planning committee decides consolidating the three fire departments is feasible, final approval will go to voters served by the three organizations.
