Events for October

Ghost Walks: Oct. 5, 8, 19 and 31, 7-9 p.m. Begin at the Port Gamble Museum. Fee: $15 per person. Reservations and prepayment are required. This will be a guided tour by our museum curator throughout town with stops at places with reported supernatural activity. Infrared cameras and recorders are allowed and encouraged. Dress in weather appropriate clothing and bring flashlights! The tour will not be cancelled due to inclement weather. No children younger than 16, please.

Second annual Port Gamble Ghost Conference:  Oct. 28-30, featuring more speakers and investigations. Register on our website, www.portgamble.com. We are excited to extend this event and have some great speakers and classes. There are spots available, so sign up now.  Our three keynote speakers are: Gregg Olsen, who is a New York Times best-selling author and has been on dozens of national and local television shows. Gregg and Darren Thompson will be speaking on “Starvation Heights” (part 2), a true story of murder and malice in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. Gregg is also debuting his “Empty Coffin” series book “Envy,” which takes place in Port Gamble. “Starvation Heights,” “Envy” and “A Twisted Faith” will be available for sale and Gregg will also do a book signing.Joe Teeples is the author of “Pacific Northwest Ghosts” and “Ghostology 101.” Joe has written articles for ghost magazines and has been interviewed on radio talk shows. He will be speaking on “Haunts of the Pacific Northwest” and signing his books, too.Karen Frazier is a freelance writer and journalist who also serve as the managing editor for Paranormal Underground magazine and she also co-hosts the weekly radio show, Paranormal Underground Radio on ZTalkRadio.com.  Karen will be speaking on the “Ghosts of Area 61: the Wellington Project,” and she too will be signing books.

Halloween Victorian House of Horrors Dessert Tea: Oct. 30 and 31. The floors will creak in the Tea Room at Port Gamble and candles will flicker during the fourth annual Halloween Evening Dessert Tea. Sitting comfortably in the center of the already well-known township with other haunted houses, you will be entertained by Theatrical Presentations of stories that will haunt you and tales of horrors from the past. This is the perfect event for a group activity or date night. It is recommended that children not be brought to this event. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. Cost per person: $23.95 plus tax and gratuity. Limited seating is available and reservations are required. Spooky 12K Trail Race and Kids 1 Miler: Oct. 30, 8 a.m.Starting and finishing in Port Gamble, the hills aren’t the only scary part of this race. Dress up for this one, with the best costume contest to follow the race. The Spooky 1 Miler is free and for children only. Halloween Celeb-ration!: Oct. 31, 1-5 p.m. Celebrate Halloween in Port Gamble! Participating businesses will offer a variety of tricks and treats. Pick up your passport at The Dauntless Bookstore and let the fun begin! Cost for this event is one can of food for the local food bank per child.
