Kitsap County Superior Court cases

Bail was set at $250,000 in Kitsap County Superior Court Feb. 18 for a 45-year-old Bremerton man charged with rape of a child.

He faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Court documents say Bremerton police responded July 22, 2024 to the report. The 13-year-old victim ran away from her house at 1:30 a.m. She walked to a nearby inn and tried to call a friend from the front desk, but there was no answer.

When she went outside the “front desk lady” and “the guy that raped me” were sitting there. She asked to use his phone, but he offered her a ride instead. He said he needed to get some items from his hotel room, and she followed him.

Once inside, he locked the door, “stripped” her and her clothes off, covered her mouth to prevent her from screaming and “had sex” with her. She left when the suspect fell asleep, and was found shortly after by her father.

The next day police tried to get security footage at the inn. A suspect was identified. Some time later police obtained DNA from the suspect. It was compared to results of the girl’s rape kit.

The suspect said the girl told him she was 19 and homeless. He said he allowed her to stay the night, but sleep on the other bed in the room. He denied raping her. He was finally recently arrested on a warrant.

The suspect, when caught, said he owed some “bad people” money, so he was going to try to sell the gun to pay that debt. But after taking it he felt guilty so he left it in the woods.

Don’t borrow vehicle

without friend knowing

Bail was set at $130,000 for a 20-year-old Port Orchard man charged in Superior Court Feb. 21 with stealing a vehicle.

He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

When pulled over he said it wasn’t stolen; he had borrowed it from a friend, but without him knowing. The friend then said it was all a misunderstanding. “Look at the color of my skin,” the suspect said.

Police found out the two met at a bar the night before and the suspect stayed the night. But he left during the night and the truck went missing. Officers later found out the victim actually had tracked down the vehicle, and when he approached the suspect told a woman who was driving it at the time to “go, go, go.” Based on the changing stories the suspect was arrested. Police then found a backpack with the victim’s wallet with credit cards inside.
