Oh yes, it’s ladies’ weekend at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds Pavilion.
The Icon Group of Silverdale is hosting a Peninsula Women’s Expo Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7 at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds Pavilion. This is the first women’s expo The Icon Group has hosted in the area and co-owner Phil Slaton said businesses have supported the event from day one.
“We had a great deal of interest in a women’s expo from retailers,” Phil said.
Phil and his wife, Joanne, co-own The Icon Group and said there are about 75 vendors set to show off their goods at the Peninsula Women’s Expo.
“Actually we have really a cross section of businesses,” Phil said. “This includes just about every type of business organization and government entity. We also have a lot of mom and pop businesses coming to the event.”
Everyone ranging from the United States Border Patrol to Mary Kay Cosmetics will be at the Peninsula Women’s Expo. Some businesses are even hiring. Phil said booths with stars on them are hiring and people may be able to apply for a job on the spot.
“You can see that it’s a really fun and diverse floor,” Joanne said. “There’s lots of different, fun things to do.”
The Peninsula Women’s Expo also will feature fashion shows, speakers and free food samplings. Macy’s and Catherine’s will host fashion shows Friday, June 6 and Christopher & Banks and C.J. Banks will put on shows Saturday, June 7.
“And I am not going to be wearing high heel pumps, so don’t worry,” Phil joked.
Joanne said the list of speakers at the Peninsula Women’s Expo includes a weight loss coach, experts on money management as well as home and child safety. Kitsap Mental Health Services also will give a presentation about what people should do when they feel overwhelmed and stressed out with situations. Romance novelist Alexa Darin also will share some information at the weekend expo.
Free child identification kits are available at the Peninsula Women’s Expo as well as free bone density testing and free massages from the Port Townsend School of Massage. The Kitsap Humane Society also will have pets up for adoption at next weekend’s event.
Admission to the Peninsula Women’s Expo is $8 for adults, with proceeds going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure to support breast cancer research.
“Well worth the investment. People are really going to be pleased,” Phil said. “Susan G. Komen gets a portion of all receipts and we’re happy to share that with them.”
