Given three alternatives to jail, a drunken 24-year-old who threatened to kill his parents Tuesday refused to cooperate with deputies and wound up behind bars.
Kitsap County sheriff’s deputies were called to the house on the 6000 block of NE Highland Boulevard in Suquamish at about 1 a.m. when the parents reported their son, intoxicated and yelling, was trying to enter the house.
Sheriff’s office reports say that when deputies arrived the suspect had left the area, but lingering in the air was the strong smell of alcohol.
The suspect returned to the house shortly after deputies left and law enforcement was called back.
The deputies found the 24-year-old on a bicycle and offered to drive him to a friend’s house or a hotel or deliver him to a detoxification center so he could sleep.
The third alternative offered was jail.
“He said several times he was going to ride back to his house,” a deputy wrote. “It was quite obvious there would be more trouble if he did that.”
The 24-year-old was booked into the Kitsap County jail for investigation of felony harassment and third-degree malicious mischief.
