Hansville man accused of child molestation

A Hansville man faces first-degree child molestation charges after family members reported him to police. Joseph Walter Dickie, 68 of Hansville was arrested on Aug. 23 and charged in Kitsap County District Court for felony child molestation, six days after after an incident propmted family members to call 911. Dickie allegedly touched an underage person, inappropriately, who is close to his family.

HANSVILLE — A Hansville man faces first-degree child molestation charges after family members reported him to police.

Joseph Walter Dickie, 68 of Hansville was arrested on Aug. 23 and charged in Kitsap County District Court for felony child molestation, six days after after an incident propmted family members to call 911. Dickie allegedly touched an underage person, inappropriately, who is close to his family.

Dickie admitted to the incident of inappropriate touching to a Kitsap County deputy shortly before his arrest. He also admitted to asking about specific information regarding the individual’s private area, according to the police report.

Dickie cooperated with family members and law enforcement officials after the incident. He told a deputy that he recently had a stent placed in his heart and is taking a lot of medication as a result. He allegedly said he didn’t know why he behaved as such and suggested that his medications may have something to do with it.

Dickie is being held in Kitsap County Jail for $50,000 bail. He has two status hearings scheduled in Kitsap County District Court for Sept. 10 and 24. No plea has been entered in his case.
