Hansville is site of the largest rummage sale in the North End area
The big 2009 Greater Hansville Rummage Sale will be held Saturday and Sunday August 8 and 9 at Buck Lake Park in Hansville. Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. People come from all over Kitsap County and line up early for the traditional rummage sale which has been held for more than 25 years, according to volunteer Fred Nelson. The popular annual sale features hundreds of items donated by residents of the community.
The rummage sale committee has been gathering and accepting valuable donated items for the past seven months. Shoppers will find household furniture and appliances, electronic equipment including stereos and television sets, sporting goods, camping gear, kids toys, tools and equipment, lawnmowers and garden supplies, men’s, women’s and kid’s clothing, jewelry and accessories, items for the kitchen from small appliances to dishes and silverware. There are even some precious antiques and collectable items.
A refreshment stand will have coffee and donuts available for early arrivals on Saturday and regular deli fare during the rest of the day. All remaining items on Sunday will be at reduced prices, but the selections will be much more limited, Nelson said. The proceeds from the rummage sale benefit the Greater Hansville Community Center, a nonprofit charitable organization which operates and maintains the community-owned buildings.
