Harry Jimmy Vanderhalf died peacefully in Sun City West, Ariz., on Jan. 7. He was 84.

Jim was born on Oct. 1, 1928 in Clark, Neb. He loved to camp and fish for salmon and trout with his family. He developed a talent for producing beautiful metal artwork and presenting them as gifts to family and friends.

Jim served as an Army paratrooper, graduating from training at Fort Benning, Ga., on March 2, 1951. He also served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II.

Jim was a civil servant for 20 years and retired from the Naval Torpedo Station in Keyport in 1975.

Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marion Vanderhalf; daughters, Wanda Cosner and Brenda McFadden; son, Randy Vanderhalf; sisters, Marion Dennis and Tona Eliason.

Memorial service was held on Jan. 18 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
