Harvey K. Reed of Bremerton, Wash., died July 19, 2011 at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. He was 94.
Mr. Reed was born June 30, 1917 in Omaha, Neb., to Margaret (Hamilton) Button and John M. Reed. He moved to Port Orchard in 1942 and served in the 8th Army Air Force from 1942-45, attaining the rank of corporal.
Harvey worked at the Retsil Veterans Home, NAD Bremerton, and retired from the Supply Department at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1972 with more than 30 years’ service. He enjoyed camping and tinkering around the home.
Survivors include his wife, Helen (Collins) Reed, whom he married Aug 31, 1947 in Port Orchard; sister, Hazel Sammons, of Texas; stepsister, Goldy Nave, of Florida; children, Harvey (Jill) Reed and Susan (Rodger) Melchior, of Poulsbo; grandchildren, Shannon (Don) Spencer, Angela (William) Catron, Ryan Reed, and Carin (John) Weier; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are scheduled July 27, 11 a.m., at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard. Online memorial at www.rill.com.
