BREMERTON — Judicial rulings are usually the subject of debate. We hear the description “judicial originalist,” but what does that mean?
Lawyer Joel Ard of Foster Pepper in Seattle will explain at the next meeting of the Silverdale-Seabeck Republican Women, 11:30 a.m. April 24 at Cloverleaf Sports Bar and Grille, 1240 Hollis St., Bremerton.
Ard, a member of the Federalist Society, will also speak about the confirmation process for 130 federal judgeships.
The presentation is free and open to the public.
Ard received his undergraduate degree from St. John’s College in 1995 and his law degree from University of Chicago Law School in 2000. He specializes in patent infringement claims, challenges to patent validity, and disputes over trademarks, copyrights and other intellectual property.
In addition, Ard advises candidates, election officials and members of the public on election law, including ballot access and integrity provisions of federal law. According to his bio: “He has extensive experience in voter roll integrity and language minority ballot access provisions of federal election statutes. Joel has investigated and enforced statewide violations of Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act and implemented election day polling place observers in primary and general elections in numerous jurisdictions.”
