Two women injured in a head-on car wreck in Silverdale Thursday afternoon were flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The collision occurred just after 1 p.m. near the intersection of Bucklin Hill Road and Blaine Avenue NW. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Both drivers had “critical injuries,” said Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Robert Law.

Neither car had passengers.

The collision occurred when a 26-year-old woman from Silverdale driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse attempted to turn left from Bucklin Hill Road into the parking lot of a shopping center, said Deputy Scott Wilson, sheriff’s office spokesman.

The Mitsubishi was then struck head-on by a 1993 jeep Cherokee driven by a 54-year-old Central Kitsap woman.

The 26-year-old was listed in critical condition, said Harborview spokeswoman Mary Guiden. Guiden said the hospital did not have information available on the 54-year-old’s condition.

Wilson said the speed of the two vehicles is still under investigation.
